Yeah! I'm in!

After a HUGE disappointment after the e-mail that informed me that I did not get a spot in the UTMB race for this year:

"Hello Aramis,
Unfortunately, your name was not selected in the lottery to participate in the 2023 UTMB World Series Finals."

a few days after another e-mail came to my attention!
I was just a click near to deleting that e-mail because of the disappointment believing that that one contained just the usual commercial information. WRONG! Luckily, I opened the content of the e-mail and there it was.... the following text:

"You are one of the "lucky loosers" selected to participate in the 2023 UTMB race! Exceptionally, we are opening up 200 extra spots for you to join the UTMB® Mont-Blanc adventure and celebrate with us the 20th anniversary edition – and it's going to be incredible!"

WOW! What a feeling!!!

Anyways, I was just putting a list of my races and events for this year and suddenly I had to redo the whole process. My focus had to move toward the one and only "A" -race for this year - the UTMB!

But what is the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc - UTMB?

The Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc, also known as the UTMB is the most expected trail-running event for trail-runners from all over the world.

INFO:
https://montblanc.utmb.world/races-runners/races/utmb

Each year, at the end of August, the elite of the trail-running world, almost 9000 runners, come to Chamonix Mont-Blanc to participate in one of the event's races.

The UTMB crosses three countries: France, Italy and Switzerland. The race involves around 170km of running and a circumnavigation of Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Western Europe with about 10,000 meters of elevation gain, starts from Chamonix, in semi-autonomy and in 46:30 hours maximum.

I had the opportunity to participate in 2017 when I had the chance to experience the tough challenges during the race but managed somehow to reach the finish line in approx. 23h and in 2019 when I had to DNF (Did Not Finish) after more than 100km due to muscle fatigue and safety reasons.

This year I guess that I have the necessary information, the experience and I know much better what to expect of the race and how to approach to it and I really hope that I will be able to execute the race in a way that I will at the end finish it with a huge smile and happy with the performance.

I will most definitely do my best to prepare my body and my mind for the effort.
