The Vattentornsbacken Climb - Safjället

This climb is absolutely not a technical one! The first part is on asphalt and then it continues on easy quite new gravel path. This means that the whole climb can be done in normal running shoes. If you should choose trail shoes with let's say the Vibram outsole this climb would eat up the rubber pretty quickly.

The climb starts with a quite challenging incline so you may opt to hike it instead as well.

It's a short climb of just approx. 400mt which means that you need many reps in order to gain a respectable amount of elevation gain. Each rep gives ca. 60m and the average grade of the climb is 14.1%.

But hey, our runner community in the area loves challenges and there is no easy alternative if we want to be ready for those tough challenges in high altitude around the world. 😊
