Coros – The products that I used for the last years

Coros Apex 2 Pro

A few years ago, after a 100 mile race I decided that I needed a better device in order to use the GPS during the whole race without the need of recharging the watch or having to run with cables attached to chargers.
The stress was really intense, The thing was that due to the Covid pandemic I raced a 100 mile race with nobody else around. No other runners, no support…. just me and my gear.

After 150km I noticed that my battery on my watch was almost dead. It went into safe mode and I couldn’t use the GPS anymore. Luckily a buddy of mine came with a charger that helped tracking the kilometers, but no other interesting data was recorded properly. Luckily, the charger saved my race as that was the only proof of me completing the course.

Still, after that event I promised to myself to never ever again fight such a sinister situation.

A few fellow runners recommended Coros, but me, being a cautious guy that usually dislikes the “too-good-to-be-true” products with a lot of “blingbling, decided to wait and educate myself a bit more around this company.

After a few months, while surfing on Facebook Marketplace I noticed this ad. Somebody was selling a Coros Vertix for like the half price because of the sole fact that he wasn’t using the product or needing all those functions that the device was able to do.

I purchased it and to my surprise I was really amazed right away with the battery time. I mean, I was used to daily charging the device. No more! I was in love! 🙂

Those amazing algorithms used by Coros are simply next level. I used the Vertix for several races and long training sessions. It was such a relief to be able to run, focus on the race and not need to be afraid of loosing data or the watch dying during a race.

After a few months I notices issues with the elevation in my sessions. Both races and training. I contacted the Coros support and they made me perform a few steps. Nothing helped. The only thing left to to was to replace the item. And they did that in a record time. Amazing service indeed!

Unfortunately, even the replace Vertix that I received suffered of the same issues. They did not replace the item with another Vertix….. they sent me a brand new Coros APEX 2 Pro! WOW, simply amazing! The device was, and in 2026, still is performing with no issues. The battery life is great! I mean, I did the Adamello race in October 2025 and managed to get to the finish line after struggling in the mountains for 49h and I still had a lot of battery time! Amazing indeed!

After this experience with Coros, everybody in my family got a Coros watch and I got myself a COROS Heart Rate Monitor that helps me track a bit better a few parameters that I consider of importance during intensive events.
